CDN-Monteverde delegation concludes successful working tour of Chile and Argentina

The delegation of the Nicaraguan Democratic Concertation CDN-Monteverde, which visited South America, successfully concluded a working tour that began in Paraguay in the framework of the 54th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) and extended for a week in Argentina and Chile.

In the three countries, they updated government officials and political, social and business leaders on the situation faced by more than 140 people who remain in the prisons of the Ortega Murillo regime for political reasons. In addition, they sought support to bring to international justice those guilty of human rights violations and crimes against humanity committed in Nicaragua, as recommended by the OAS in its most recent resolution.

In the first stage, the delegation included Rosalía Miller, María Laura Alvarado, Tamara Dávila, Juan Sebastián Chamorro and Manuel Orozco. In the second stage, which included visits to Chile and Argentina, Tamara Dávila and Juan Sebastián Chamorro were joined by Kevin Solís, Juan Diego Barberena and Eliseo Núñez.

In Argentina, the delegation met with leaders of political and social organizations. They held meetings with Deputy Foreign Minister Leopoldo Sahores; Security Minister Patricia Bullrich; Congressman Fernando Iglesias, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, who was accompanied by Congresswoman Karina Banfi; politicians of different tendencies, and with the directors of the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services.

In Chile, they developed a similar agenda. They met with Senator Ximena Rincón, president of the Democratic Party; with Deputy Tomás de Rementería, of the Congressional Foreign Relations Committee. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Thomas Pascual, director of Human Rights, and Francisco del Campo, director of the North America, Central America and the Caribbean division. They also exchanged experiences with the directors of the Evolución Política Party (Evópoli); and with the former senator, former minister and renowned Chilean politician Sergio Bitar.

In Paraguay, where the tour began, they developed an extensive list of meetings with delegations attending the OAS General Assembly. In all three countries they achieved extensive press coverage that was used to keep the Nicaraguan crisis and the urgent need to free political prisoners and find a civic and peaceful solution to the crisis facing the country on the international agenda.
